Stefan Gesell is a self-taught photographer and digital artist currently based in Munich, Germany.
He creates portraits that appear to be torn from the pages of a horror novel, using elements of sci-fi, industrial and cyberpunk in his work.
Dynamic lighting and effects and the rawness and aggression of Gesell’s works makes him stand out among his peers, attempting to capture various dystopian worlds within the same form.
“I think it is the different approach and stage-managing that make my pictures look different. For me the impact of my images is of high importance. I want to make them memorable to the viewer. That’s why I experiment a lot with light and the resulting mood.
My ideas come to me while sleeping, so to speak.
I dream them and then try to translate my memory of the dream into photos”.
