Om eventet

We're looking forward to present you to another awesome 'n' top of the underground artworld artist at Monday Studio. Please give it up for :

Emil Bagge, a rising artist from Copenhagen's underground art scene, brings his bold and unfiltered vision to Monday Studio.

We're proud to showcase Bagge’s work, which reflects the raw energy and unpredictable beauty of everyday life. This exhibition invites viewers to step into his world — where dark themes and vivid colors collide in striking visual narratives.

Emil who, you say?

Emil Bagge’s artistic journey began with a spark of inspiration from the skateboarding culture of his childhood. “My dad had this old skateboarding book from the 80s, filled with artwork from Jimbo Phillips. The bones and colors jumping off the page instantly hooked me,” he recalls. Growing up in Copenhagen, Bagge found himself drawn to the underground art scene, where the freedom to experiment and challenge norms continues to shape his evolving style.

Although his work often appears dark and intense, Bagge doesn’t approach the canvas with a set message in mind. “I’m not always sure what I’m going to create. I usually just start with an impulse or a feeling I need to get out,” he explains. This instinct-driven approach gives his pieces a raw energy that resonates with his audience, who often find layers of meaning he hadn’t intended.

Finding Beauty in Chaos

Bagge’s process is fluid, often shifting from structured to chaotic, depending on the project. He confesses that he doesn’t follow a strict routine but admits there’s always something happening subconsciously that guides his work. “I think there’s always a theme brewing in the back of my mind, even if I’m not aware of it,” he says. Everyday life - mundane and chaotic - serves as a central source of inspiration. A friend’s advice, “You have to learn to love the everyday, because that’s what there’s most of,” has stuck with him and now influences much of his art.

Bagge enjoys experimenting with materials as well, often opting for unconventional choices like sunflower oil in his oil paintings. He laughs, “It might sound odd, but it works for me.” His willingness to push boundaries, even with something as basic as materials, reflects his larger philosophy—don’t be afraid to create confusion, both for yourself and others.

Unfiltered Expression and Future Explorations

Bagge describes his art as an evolving journey, one that he’s not finished with yet. “I’m not sure I’ve really found my style,” he admits, “but I’m creating things I’m proud of, and that’s what matters.” For Bagge, the act of creation is more about expression than perfection, a mindset influenced by one of his favorite quotes from Henry Rollins: “You have to go through what others won’t, to achieve what others don’t.” This attitude pushes him to produce work that challenges both himself and his audience.

Looking to the future, Bagge is eager to explore new mediums, with silicone catching his eye as an exciting possibility. “I’m fascinated by what artists can do with silicone,” he says, hinting at his constant desire to push into uncharted territory. Whether he’s making last-minute changes before an exhibition or diving into a new material, one thing remains certain - Emil Bagge’s work will always stay raw, real, and refreshingly unpredictable.

The actual exhibition runs from Thursday to Saturday, culminating in a Saturday reception.
