Om eventet
We are thrilled to spotlight Kim Heyst
- an artist whose surreal and boundary-pushing art will take center stage on a wall at Monday Studio.
Kim Heyst’s work blends surrealism, horror, and abstraction into captivating visual narratives. With a background that includes illustrating sci-fi classics, designing for Roskilde Festival, and hosting multi-disciplinary art events, Kim’s artistic journey is as diverse as it is inspiring. His influences range from comics and music to subconscious interpretations of fictional worlds, promising an experience that is both imaginative and raw.
Kim who you might still ask?
Well, he says: "I’ve always admired artists like Dave McKean and Mike Mignola," Kim shares, citing them as enduring influences. His journey as an artist has led to notable projects, including illustrating the first-ever Danish translation of Roadside Picnicby Arkadij and Boris Strugatskij and designing vinyl covers for Sounds Like Roskilde, a special edition record for the iconic Roskilde Festival in 2018.
Kim's creative energy extends to unconventional formats, such as live drawing sessions in public spaces like libraries, where he invites audiences into his artistic process. "It’s always about breaking boundaries and finding new ways to connect," he says, reflecting his passion for creating immersive experiences.
When asked about how he stays inspired, Kim reveals: "Right now, I’m unexpectedly finding creativity sparked by AI-generated horror images that look like 70s films—it’s wild!" His work continues to evolve, combining his lifelong fascination with fantasy and horror with a fearless exploration of new mediums and ideas.
