Om eventet

We are thrilled to spotlight both Kim Heyst and Pyntelea in this exciting dual-artist exhibition at Monday Studio, where their unique and boundary-pushing art will take center stage in the gallery. .

Kim Heyst’s work blends surrealism, horror, and abstraction into captivating visual narratives. With a background that includes illustrating sci-fi classics, designing for Roskilde Festival, and hosting multi-disciplinary art events, Kim’s artistic journey is as diverse as it is inspiring. His influences range from comics and music to subconscious interpretations of fictional worlds, promising an experience that is both imaginative and raw.

Pyntelea brings an entirely different energy with her intricate ceramic sculptures inspired by mythology, fantasy, and the transformative power of fire. A trained architect turned artist, Pynte discovered her passion for ceramics during her master's program, where a fascination with gargoyles and Roman bathhouse decorations led her to develop the mythical and gothic style seen in her work today. Her pieces evoke a dark, fantastical universe filled with spiky forms that resemble dragons, corals, and otherworldly creatures.

Kim and Pynte who you might still ask?

  • Kim Heyst says: "I’ve always admired artists like Dave McKean and Mike Mignola," citing them as enduring influences. His journey as an artist has led to notable projects, including illustrating the first-ever Danish translation of Roadside Picnic by Arkadij and Boris Strugatskij and designing vinyl covers for Sounds Like Roskilde, a special edition record for the iconic Roskilde Festival in 2018. Kim's creative energy extends to unconventional formats, such as live drawing sessions in public spaces like libraries, where he invites audiences into his artistic process. "It’s always about breaking boundaries and finding new ways to connect," he says, reflecting his passion for creating immersive experiences. When asked about how he stays inspired, Kim reveals: "Right now, I’m unexpectedly finding creativity sparked by AI-generated horror images that look like 70s films—it’s wild!" His work continues to evolve, combining his lifelong fascination with fantasy and horror with a fearless exploration of new mediums and ideas.

  • Pyntelea shares a different story. "I’ve never been good at anything else," she quips when asked what led her to become an artist. Her creative journey began with drawing dragons as a child and evolved during her architectural studies when a course in ceramic raku firing introduced her to the alchemical transformation of clay under extreme heat. "It’s like working with a dragon’s fire," she explains. Today, Pynte creates sculptures that embody the unpredictability of the raku process, with vibrant, shifting hues and intricate textures that reflect her love for fantasy worlds. When not working in her studio, she finds inspiration in nature and mythology. "My art is a mix of dark fantasy and gothic elements, but there’s always a touch of whimsy," she says. "I want my pieces to look like they’ve been pulled straight out of a mythical realm."
