Simon Nicolaisen’s works move through a darker figurative universe, where recognisable forms meet distortion, symbolism and uneasy little narratives.

Strong outlines and graphic constructions give the images an immediate presence, while the subjects remain open enough to resist simple explanations.

The works sit somewhere between illustration, painting and visual storytelling – familiar at first glance, but never entirely comfortable.
